2. Overview

Herbora is an app for AI-powered diagnosis and identification of plants from photos. We process as little data as possible. There are no user accounts and no tracking for advertising purposes.

3. What data we process

• Plant photos: The photo you take or select is processed for analysis.
• Optional details: type of location (e.g. "indoors"), duration, notes — only if you enter them.
• Scan counter: To enforce usage limits, the number of scans is counted anonymously per IP address.
• Feedback: If you indicate whether a diagnosis was correct, we store this anonymously (not linked to you).
• Purchase data: Subscription purchases are handled by Apple/Google and RevenueCat; we only receive an anonymous status (premium active yes/no).

4. Purposes & legal bases

Processing is carried out to provide the App's features (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR) and to limit misuse and costs and improve the product (legitimate interest, Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).

5. Third-party providers

• Google (Gemini API): Your photo is transmitted encrypted to the Google Gemini API for image analysis. Provider: Google Ireland Ltd. / Google LLC.
• Cloudflare: Our server (Cloudflare Worker) forwards the request and stores the anonymous scan counters (Cloudflare KV, max. 8 weeks). Provider: Cloudflare, Inc.
• Amazon: Product recommendations contain affiliate links to Amazon. You are only redirected to Amazon when you tap a link (Amazon's privacy policy then applies).
• RevenueCat / Apple / Google: For processing and managing subscriptions.

For transfers to the USA, we rely on the EU Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses or the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.

6. Storage period

Photos are not stored permanently on our servers; they are only processed for analysis. Your scan history is stored exclusively on your device. Anonymous scan counters are deleted after max. 8 weeks.

7. Your rights

You have the right to access, rectification, erasure, restriction, data portability and objection, and the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. Please contact the email address above.
